So my daughter got a speeding ticket in the mail today from our trip in JULY. I 380 in Cedar Rapids. My question is this. Does a camera ticket cause points? I don't see how since there were three drivers in the car and they don't know who was driving. All 3 photos are from the rear so no driver shown. Also I'm a little miffed the date is over two months ago.
One last thing. Please don't ask who was driving. I'm not going to post that on a public forum. Besides, I'm really not sure.

I dont know? The red light tickets i have seen show the driver driving! Guess itll go on whoever the car is licensed to,but how can they prove the owner was driving.Probably figure Out of State ticket theyll just pay it too much money to fight.Dont see how any particular person could get the points though.Cant see em driving.sevenmph Thanks this.

Don't think they care about assessing points, those camera's are just money grabs
ramblingman, ExOTR, BUMBACLADWAR and 1 other person Thank this. -
If it was me I would send them a letter demanding a jury trial. Very likely they can't prove who the driver is and therefore would not be able to prove their case. In my opinion red light cameras should be illegal everywhere.
Rusty Trawler and sevenmph Thank this. -
Depending on local laws, the owner of the car is financially responsible for said car. They probably cant put points against you, but they can charge you monies for speeding.BUMBACLADWAR and sevenmph Thank this.

They changed the location some on those, there are signs just before the cameras, but I seldom go through there. Speed cameras were only where the speed limit is 55.
Some red light cams in Chicagoland have been removed, but a few more have been added. I get there more often than CR.sevenmph Thanks this. -
http://www.cedar-rapids.org/documen...ENFORCMENT ORDINANCE 61.138 ATE Ordinance.pdf
Here is their ordinance. According to it and a news article no information is sent to a Drivers License Division. The mayor also states that if not payed tbey sent it to collections but the collections agency cannot record it on a persons credit history.
Interestingly enough Iowa DOT told them to take the cameras down and even won in court but Cedar Rapids has appealed. -
I'd just send them a picture of the money for the fine. wmt

I'm rebellious enough to do that! Thanks!
