You'd actually be quite surprised how eager they are to impart their wisdom upon you..... Sometimes unsolicited. Lol.
Take it all in.
Make it your own.
Teach those who follow.
It's about as close to apprenticeship as we get these days.
Otherwise you're left to flounder... And one bad trucker represents us all. I say: We'd rather not have that. -
No. It would have improved the video if he had started in low reverse and then shifted to high reverse. But IMHO he didn't come close to melting the clutch, if that's what you are getting at. No big deal.Pumpkin Oval Head and scottied67 Thank this.

Thanks for the tips guys. I did better the second time and 3rd time I practiced today. I tried all the tips "make small corrections" "don't oversteer" "take it slow" but there's a big difference between being told something and actually applying them. The trailer did continue to get up from under me but I began to understand the steer into trouble concept better due to this. Although I got better as the day progressed Im still not happy as I hate not being able master it even though I know my expectations are very unrealistic. We straight line again Monday. I will continue to push forward and not be negative. I will get this.
Just passing by, tinytim, x1Heavy and 2 others Thank this. -
I can't think of a good reason to be starting in high when heavy. I can't think of a good reason for driving across a parking just to reverse quickly back across the parking lot. I can't think of a single purpose for the video to be honest.
So we have a person doing something that has no purpose other than to make a youtube video that has no benefit.
So, we have someone choosing to use the company equipment in an unusual manner for the sole purpose of creating a useless youtube video.
That's why I say it's the type of thing that will lead to companies forbidding personal recording. -
@Lepton1
@tinytim
I think you guys are on the same page, but ones using 87 to get into Albany, NY - the others using 90.
Tea bag and a cripple, let's not fight, eh?scottied67, tinytim and Lepton1 Thank this. -
What about 88?
Without trying to thread jack how do you do that? I've tried shifting from low to high reverse and all I do is grind... -
It's all good. @tinytim is a good egg. I'm hoping to get Google Glass or some kind of head mounted camera (Go Pro?) to be able to give closer to my perspective as I cross temporary steel bridges over streams that are narrower than the width of my wheel base. I guess I am just jealous of @scottied67 setup.KillingTime and tinytim Thank this.

The times I have done it I rev it pretty high in low, then wait for the "clunk" and get easy in the throttle to high. I float shift, so I am really easy on the throttle once it is in high reverse.Boattlebot Thanks this.

I'll have to try that thanks. I really only use high bobtail thoLepton1 Thanks this.
