I worked for a company out of Huron ohio. D.S. express. a serbian owned company if that tells you anything, I was given a 2400 mile load and only given the weekend to get it there. load friday morning deliver first thing monday. loaded in cleveland delivered to puyallup wa. i was late. so the owner tells me there is a problem with the second stop go to the loves and wait for him to call. no parking at the loves so i went to a rest area right up the road on interstate 5. went to sleep waiting for a call and i am woke up by the owner and another driver beating on my door. owner told me to "pack your #### and come on" left me in a rest area in north west washington. i live in ohio. And now he is dragging out paying me what he owes and i have the feeling that i paid for his flight to washington. Any suggestions on how to go about this? Legally and what not. any feedback is welcome.

Call this number and be prepared to document everything . Tell them when you loaded , when you were expected to deliver along with the BOL number . Complain to the Department Of Labor in OH if you have anything withheld from your pay .http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/documents/saftviolationrpt.pdf

No transportation company can make you brake the law, second if you ran legal and was late that's unfair working conditions. But then again it's you said he said but for a boss to fly across the country and fire someone he must have really wanted you fired bad. There's got to be more to your story, it's just got to be. Most of the time it's the other way, driver get's mad and leaves his truck hid somewhere. But in the end he has to pay you for your work even if you were late, that's 2400 miles plus drop. File with NLRB

Do you have the option of turning the load down? Your profile says 13 years as a trucker so you had to have known you couldn't have made that run? Hopefully you got the paperwork for the load assignment along with the logbook. What's the logbook look like? It must be way behind. Why violate the HOS for someone else's benefit? Why take the load at all with a set delivery time?
If I understand it correctly you went and took a break (owners orders) at a rest area after the first drop and the owner and another driver went to the airport, bought tickets, found a flight that boarded right away (not always easy), got on a plane, flew out from Ohio to Washington, landed, got a rental car and found you and kicked you out of the truck while you were still on break.? Sounds like the owner was determined to let you go for being late. If you were late at the first drop which is understandable the second stop must not have been very important to the owner at all. What was so important on that first drop? Your post is confusing. I've read about bad companies and owners but WOW.

Good Luck, hope you get your money and another job.

This story is all too common in the trucking industry.I got fired from my last company and boss shows up at the receiver with another driver.I'm wondering why your boss flew to Washington with rage. What exactly did you say to him to make him so angry? Why did you accept the load? This company is owned by a serbian which by the sounds of your post you think they're crooked. So why did you start driving for this guy?I hope for your sake this is a lesson learned and you THINK before making any decisions. So how you getting home?

I agree. Load Friday morning, run 2400 miles, deliver Monday morning. Definitely doable. You are late. 2nd stop is still on the wagon. Owner tells you to hang tight, you catch a nap and he shows up with another drive beating on the door and they ditch you on the side of the road.

This guy paid for 2 tickets, direct flight from Ohio to Washington and arrived there while you were taking a nap? That Monday that you arrived there? That'd have to be a pretty expensive flight. All of that because you were late? I would have thought that it would be more profitable for him to find you a load back to Ohio and drop you. The only time I've seen owners do this is when they feel that their truck AND cargo is in danger.

your story doesn't add up, amigo... You're holding back on some details.
