Our air has improved in a major way, I grew up here in the 60's and 70's the air was so bad you could not even see the mountains, Smog control has actually worked, and very well. 55 thats a joke most of the trucks coming into ca wont go much past 60 anyway, and most do nto drive 55 in Ca. As far as anti idle, if you have a complaint truck you can idle.
as far as drivers not wanting to come into the state, we don't care stay out thats fine with us, we will all be too glad to let you run those great miles out of here, no problem. See you at the river.

Speaking of air quality. This is why emissions are a good thing also because better fuel mileage and more power. Look at cars since they have been subjected to emissions longer. In 1978 you could buy a Corvette rated at 170hp that got 10mpg and had a problematic hose farm emissions system. Today you can buy a 707hp Challenger that gets over 20mpg....why? Because meeting emissions standards made manufacturers dump money into meeting regulations that forced them to make everything much more efficient. More efficient mean more mpg, less emissions, longer lasting, more power. I know trucks suck right now but give it time and I see the same thing happening with trucks....they will get better then they ever have been.

I have a 1998 Camaro Z28, that has an engine out of a 2018 Z06 Vette supercharger and all, the tailpipe is cleaner than the LS1 that came out of it, a few more pony's to boot. So yes technology is forced normally not a voluntary item.

If it wasn't loose what did TA repair? It was loose it didn't have the proper clamping force. That is why you got written up. Yes that is part of the pre trip. A pre trip consists of everything you studied for before taking the driving test for your CDL. Granted we, yes I said we, me included, don't always do a correct pre trip. That is why you hardly ever hear people checking their horns during pre trip, or checking tractor protection valve by applying brakes until buzzer and light warning for low air comes on.

Like others have said, learn from it and move on. Not a big deal, at least you were not put out of service, minor thing.

I have always tried to use tact and sensitivity when it comes to making negative comments about an area or state. Like I said in my comment I really never had a problem while running California. To be honest I had most of my problems in Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Missouri. I have never had many issues in Ohio and Ohio had a really bad name for years. On the smog subject I remember standing out on the front parking lot of the Griffith Observatory and the smog was so bad you could not see the Holywood sign much less downtown LA. Because I have not been to California for while now I can't give a direct report about the state. I do know that I hear more negative comments today coming from Maryland and Virginia than most anywhere else.

My view on this topic is simple. No matter where you operate. run legal and make sure your permits and other legals are up to date. The best way I know to run.

That right there tells you that it's been that way for a while. Long enough to have been in the shop while it was like that. When was your last PM, I would be pissed if I were you. Now you know to look at everything on that truck because you are the only person you can trust to be safe.

My bad I thought it was the truck. Trailer makes sense because every single one of them is pos unless you personally own it and maintain it.
