Do the DM's know you by name or by number? When you call do they say "Hey Joe" or "Hey driver 46871"? What is the DM to driver ratio?

DMs for my company have about 60 drivers each. Whenever I call in I identify myself both by name and truck number.
-
Both companies I have worked for knew me by name. With my first, my dm knew who I was. Heck he had more trouble remembering my truck number than anything else. With my current company all I give my dm is my first name and he knows who I am and my truck number. The question should be...do dm's really care about their drivers? Just cause they know who u are doesn't mean they care

watkins dispatch system is done by region, so if you are on the east coast you deal with such and such a person, or the northwest you'd deal with another person. that being said a number may be assigned to you, i dont know, but you'll never hear it, you will be a person, always, "hey dispatcher from northwest this bob in truck 2222, have any clue whats happening?" "hey bob, hows it going? is your wife feeling better." it is very personable. you will not be a number here. good luck, and good choice if youre choosing watkins. i've been with them since 2002.

in time your dispatcher will know you by name just from your voice. But dept within the company only know you as a trk number.
-
Every call I've ever received asked for me by name. In total we have about 7 dispatchers and one weekend dispatcher.
-
W/S was my first and really only choice. -
When dispatch pulls you up on the screen, every bit of your info is in front of them including your picture. Any special request, last home time, how many days on the road etc. Good luck.
-
Yea eventually they will know you by name if you converse with them often.
I still say the truck number just to avoid confusion.
Never have they called and asked for truck "21XX"
Or ever referred to me by my truck number, if thats what you're asking.
Good luck.
