Isn't this the truth. Yes I know this thread is pushing 5.5 years of age but he's right, an echo board is very easy to install. Also you can put echo in just about any radio. I have a 1976 JC Penney base that I put a no name board in. Works great and doesn't sound too bad (IMO). Also put a single tone roger beep board in a few radios, it's a little more involved but not much. Heck yesterday I put a talkback in one of my own radios. Extremely easy to do and the parts costed no more than $2. I can even do an LED lamp conversion in the meter to give it that cool blue tint. Yet I can put one of these radios up for sale and watch people pay thru the nose for an otherwise run-of-the-mill radio because it has all these easy to do mods. Anyone want to buy a radio?
p.s. i have a digital echo turbo X2 board from RF limited, and IMO it can be annoying as hell if you set it right, but ti also gives you the option of sounding like a cyborg or just repeating your message of choice for shutting up the radio rambos. lol -
I'd like to learn more about this "clipping the finals" mod???????

Heck that might be the only way to make a bad radio sound good.
