You know its funny,i remember when we went to the current HOS (11-14-70) and the only thing you herd was,,"How do you cheat on them",now this guy wants to know how to cheat with EOBR's
That is exactly why the industry is being mandated to go to this technology,no not the guys that can hand ina a legal log,NOOOOOOOO its because of the countless people like the OP that want to know how to CHEAT
Ive been on ELOGS/EOBR's thru qualcomm for 3 months now, prior to that i havent had a logbook violation in 14 years(all of my driving time),YES it is different,NO you cant drive like you have
Now if we had ALL logged it like we drove it for years and the FMCSA didnt have tons of FACTS about out of service drivers and non-compliant companies maybe the EOBR's would still be a TOPIC for consideration
Just like in full Metal Jacket, when Gunny Hartman finds a Donut in Pvt Pyles locker and makes the whole platoon pay for it,,his quote" GO AHEAD AND EAT IT PYLE,ENJOY IT! THEY ARE PAYING FOR IT ,NOT YOU"!
In life its always the minority of a populace that envokes the most change on the majority of the populace that is following the law

If they were a safe company and were compliant why would they be fined?
Sounds more like they were a unsafe company that was mandated to got to EOBR's -
This is true....however the carrier has to care . My guy was making hours to help his drivers cover his freight......
-
Huh? To "help???"
Foolin around with the system in that way helps no one, and being on an EOBR does not require one to fabricate hours to cover freight. It still requires a thorough knowledge of the HOS rules to make the runs and the timing work. I doubt the industry would be in the position of mandated adoption of this technology without a high rate of non-compliance being detected in roadside inspections and compliance audits.
BTW... my carrier voluntarily moved onto elogs for two stated purposes - one was business efficiency, which a small shop or sole proprietor probably isn't going to see. The other is CSA compliance in the fatigue basic; eliminating stupid logbook errors has dropped their score into the satisfactory range. -
Most people will read the first sentence in a paragraph and skim the rest and miss an important part. You didn't even read the first sentence.
I have heard many drivers talk about the various ways they cheat on their eobr's but I wasn't gathering information then. I am wanting a list of the things that drivers do to cheat.
I have 3 million miles without a logbook ticket. I have never gotten one. I had one company give my log sheets to an auditor because they knew mine would be good. The safety man told me that. I haven't had any tickets or accidents of any kind for over 20 years. I have this safety record because of me, not some pencil pushers rules.
You should learn to read something before you start spouting off about it. You can take your attitude and shove it.Last edited: Mar 28, 2011

Safety and compliance are two completely separate things. They had a very good safety record with most of their drivers running 4000 miles per week. They can only run about 3000 miles per week with the eobrs.
Any company or individual driver could have a perfect safety record and yet have a boatload of logbook tickets because they aren't "compliant". You could get an unsatisfactory csa rating just by forgetting to write down your miles or bol number or forgetting to draw a line when you pull out on the road. What does that have to do with safety?

I am a o/o...when it becomes mandatory, that they infringe on my buisness an decide they are going to track my every move..I will sell my truck !..You might as well be a prisoner. what if you are out of hours, you spring a fuel leak an are forced to move the truck or it is to get it into the shop, an someone else is driveing....you get burned for the truck moveing>>>> horse hockey!!!!! why dont they just give each drive a ankle braclet, so they can prove weather he is sleeping or getting something to eat, or getting a shower....Over kill is the gooberment biggest problem
Rocks Thanks this. -
Well I have to say now Im a lil confused

Then what is your point? if your all about safety and being compliant, then i guess you should have NO problem when it comes to EOBR's? correct?(your record vs "some pencil pushers rules")
I did read your thread and your reply, and no attitude here sir
One other thing about that Company you keep referring to,,,If most of there drivers are "Compliant" and running(as you claim) 4000 every week(i assume they are home everyweekend?) why are they not running but 3000 under EOBR's NOW? If they were doing "Legal&Compliant" before EOBR's why not now???
I have been out here long enough to understand a good week of 4000 miles but every week? Thats a stretch dont you think?,
That would come out to like somewhere between 180,000-200,000 miles a year per driver
(in this economy mind you?)
Anything you have "herd" about cheating on a EOBR is hearsay at best, this EOBR(through Qualcomm) does not miss squat, everytime you cycle the brakes it logs,if you pause it logs,if you fall under 15mph it logs. and countless more
So good luck with that "letter" -
For the small cost of this one, give it a try.
