That was my mentality. It still is, but I have a fresher perspective on the situation.

    Some facts for you-

Ffe use to be (apparently, because all the old timers are constantly telling me it was and I can see it, frankly) a really truly great outfit. This was back when Stubbs .Sr was running things around here. Now, in keeping with the times, ffe is shifting their whole buisness perspective from driver oriented to squeezing every penny out of every reasonable area.
This is typical of all companies and you shouldn't expect anything better from ANY other company. Those fields are not greener on the other side- stick with your contract or ffe will throw you and your DAC to the wolves.

Ffe is releasing debt to their drivers. Again, in keeping with times ffe finds it more profitable to allow their drivers to leases trucks. This is brilliant on several levels, least of which is their profit margin. By allowing drivers to lease and make truck payments with the ffe logo, they're securing a whole mess of non secured debt in the form of truck payments, from you. Granted this does devalue the total market value of the company itself, but in reality makes their brokerage, storage and distribution services much easier to expand nd control. It's easier to expand when you don't need to worry about payments on trucks that aren't, frankly, always moving.

Ffe will not push hard to get you into a lease. They don't really have to actively push you into a lease. There are several reasons for this but one main one I will fill you in on; you're getting the majority of rejected loads- the loads that the lease operators don't want and don't have to take. Tis means that if you say, picked up in LA and were delivering to say, maryland theoretically you could be forced to interchange loads with a lease operator that wants that load. That doesn't happen often, but I wouldn't mention it, if it never did.
much more likely you will get thousand, maybe thousand five loads with multiple drops than those lovely line haul drop and hooks.

Youre going to need to be realistic. You ain't gonna be making much, which is true of all logistics now.

Good luck, pm with any specific questions you have.
