We do get paid for chaining and strapping.

When someone takes a job they agree to the terms of it. Flatbedding requires chaining and strapping loads. Complaining about not getting payed to chain and strap is like someone complaining that they are not getting payed to fuel their truck. Its just part of the job.

When I was a company driver I'd try to just take the crap with the cream. Be a little patient and see what you make over the course of a month or a year. Don't get too caught up in what you get paid for one particular thing.

It's a forest for the trees thing. I remember one guy who quit an $80,000/yr job that he liked just because he couldn't get reimbursed for gloves, no kidding ! I dunno, I'm glad guys are a bunch of sissies about tarping because more and more that's becoming my niche', if I find a place that has loads that are bit difficult to tarp I know there's a good chance they have a hard time getting them moved. I don't charge tarp fees either, I bid every load with enough on it to tarp and if it doesn't have to be then it's a bonus. I'm 300+ lbs too, and I enjoy it. If I can get my butt up there and not whine about it, I know you guys can do it.
