Make a point worth agreeing with and I'd be glad to agree with you. Negative Negative Negative that's all it ever is.

I'm wanting to get into flatbeds is tarp pay per load or per tarp? I have talked to maverick 25 tarp pay McElroy and melton was 40 tarp pay
Chinatown Thanks this. -
I'm going to assume that's per tarped load. Or tarped peice

and there you go, negative, negative, negative,
WE AGREE. -
I believe the biggest problem with tarping is the industry doesn't value the driver for this part of the job, especially the owner operator.
I spent a lot of money on tarps and to be honest I question having them on some of our trailers at all!
The biggest issue I have is not the 2000 plus mile trip paying $5k but the local $300 to $400 run that they expect you to tarp for free! There's no value in this to me as I'd have my work cut out to make two locals in a day if I were to tarp and un tarp both of them while taking traffic etc into account and not to mention the amount of guys who are willing to do these local runs for far less.
What makes no sense at all to me is in the California summer you get a load that's picking something up that's been sitting outside for a month and traveling down the road 100 miles to be delivered at another yard to sit outside again for whatever time but they want you to tarp it for free or almost free! I ask those people for my tarping fee and when they moan about it I simply say "you come out here in 110 degree weather and tarp it and tell me again how crazy I am!"
Turns out 90% of the time it doesn't actually need a tarp at all but when it does they will pay good money for it, as they should.
The hardest thing to find in the USA is legal & properly insured labor, like somebody already said its nice to have something to do after driving a couple of thousand miles but if I'm going to sweat for someone else I want my fair cut. Otherwise there are much better forms of exercise I can give up my time on for free.Dinomite, Hegemeister, Razor3 and 2 others Thank this. -
if you don't want to tarp or secure loads..... PULL A VAN!!
