With the racks chained down we could be in and out of our teminal in 15 minutes if we didn't have wait on another truck. We used coil bags instead of tarps and it is much faster and easier. But we still had to be careful how we drove because we drove in alot of city traffic. One run had over 35 red lights in 34 miles

That's quick! I've never had a van loaded or unloaded that fast.
Know what ya mean about the lights, that can get pretty aggravating. Just get up to speed, and oh boy, ANOTHER light, yellow turning red of course!:biggrin_25523:

I would rather haul a coil than a lumber, shingle, or drywall load any day!

    Jfaulk99 and Les2 Thank this.

I liked pulling coils back in the day I Am one of the od balls that prefer sucide rather then side saddle though never liked hauling them when they where side saddle

I seen a few guys try to strap um and not chain when they where lazy
You can guess the outcome .........lmao

I hate suicide coils, seem like every coil I have to haul that's suicide is 72" wide which makes it a PITA to chain. Plus my trailer has a coil well, so suicide means digging out the racks. :biggrin_25510:

Never liked to haul coils suicide. They can move ,I don't care how many chains you have on them.We sometimes had to haul them suicide but it had to be a have to case before I would. One outfit who pulled out of our terminal hauled um sotgun with 2 straps over them for years. I don't think they do that any more since Ala got so upset about folks losing cols in Birmingham.

Not a steel hauler, so bear with me. Just what is the best way to haul coils? I'd think that v-bed would be the easiest, and safest.:biggrin_25525:
