You did the best you could with what you had. One problem I have with suicide is that you don't have enough places to put chains. you have 7 chains but they are in such a short space that they could rip the rails off the trailer. I have seen trailers that had this happen. It is very important to drive "gentle" when you haul coils.

I always figured there were reasons why you guys secure the way you do. I know as well there's more to it than I've seen in these posts.
Looks like I hijacked another thread. But really, this IS interesting. -
Yes i like to get a wider spread on the chains but it is what it is. And yes i have seen the rub rail riped off. You really need to drive carefuly and watch what your doing.
And you will be ok. -

Who do you drive for now? I talked with you on another post. -

Think of the paperwork he has to fill out if he still has a job. Or license.

yikes, the one guy said he liked coils more than shingles, really? I loved hauling shingles, wrapped = no tarping and just throw some straps over them. I always thought hauling skids of bricks would be cake also.
-
It could have been worse. At least the coil stayed on the truck and didn't land on a rice burner.
-
That coil is too big to be loaded on the front of the trailer. I'm betting that the chains got lose and he had to stop fast.Broke the chains and that coil slid half the length of the trailer. I'd like to see the trailer half way back. It took a large crane to set it back on the trailer.
