Insurance is Aetna. I pay about $200 every 2 weeks for a family of 3. This is taken out pre tax.
The nice thing about car hauling is you don't have delivery times. As long as it's during the time period that the dealer takes cars then you can deliver, if it's a day early or a day late its because your calling it early or late because you don't have delivery times on paper.
Breakdown really depends on how long your down for. If it's going to be a day or less I normally wait and yes they put you in a hotel. If it's longer then I will try to get a spare truck until mine is ready

    Travisroland Thanks this.

Yes you would lose it. The money for 4 and 5 is considered a bonus. You also get a percentage of your gross as a bonus on top of the extra cpm.

Thanks for the good USAL info.Do you get payed every two weeks. While your waiting on your truck to get its preventive maintenance are you being payed.Or if they take longer than 4 hours to do the PM do you get breakdown pay.Is B'ham and Houston the only shops.I have a big Pilot truck stop 25 miles from my house, but there is a small Kangaroo truckstop in my town and two other gas station in my town with limited truck parking. What is there policy on truck parking on the weekend.Has anyone damaged your cars while you were at the house.

Yes pay is every 2 weeks. I normally get my truck serviced at Speedco because we have an account and it's a lot quicker so I never have to worry about going over 4 hours for a service.
You can park your truck anywhere you want as long as it's not to far out of route.
This first week is orientation and it's done in Houston. The second and third week can be done in Houston or Birmingham (for you it would be Birmingham).
Not sure on the training pay. It used to be hourly but I think they changed it to a set amount for the week. You get it for the full five weeks. The driver trainer is getting the load pay for your last two weeks.

I've never used Speedco,so do you call them and set an appointment or do you just show up and they fit you in.Do you keep the same trailer all the time and does Speedco check it out.Once you get settled into the USAL way of doing things how many miles a week will you average. Is it better in your system to try to do more short mileage trips,so you can do more pick ups and backhauls.Make more money delivering cars, than driving long miles. Are there any long mileage trips or do you stay with in a 350 mile radius of your terminal. Can a guy who's terminal is Nashvile work his way to Houston Tx.Can you go any where in the system. Is every load after the 1st delivery considered a backhaul. What counts as a backhaul. How do you try to run your week.Do you take a long trip out then try working your way back all week to get home

Training location was explained in my last post.
Speedco is kind of like a 10 minute oil change for cars, except it's for truck. You just pull in and wait in line (it's normally not a like and you can pull straight in). When you pull in they call our shop and are told exactly what to do to the truck and trailer.
Yes the trailer stays with the truck. They are numbered the same just with a T at the end on the trailer. They are together from new till there sold.
We have long and short runs and you can make money with both, it just depends on what you like and you want know until you try it.
It's to much detail to explain the exact back haul system on here but yes for the most part, everything away from your home terminal is a back haul.

No they don't have scales at most places but you do get one weigh a day on your com data card. They won't give you a load that's over gross and the way that you have to load the truck for everything to fit normally won't allow you to go over axle. I haven't weighed in a year and haven't been pulled in yet
