Currently in CDL school and still living with parents. I’m targeting a company for employment that requires you live within 100 miles of one of their terminals or distribution centers. I’m about 135 miles from the closest hiring DC currently and can move after getting hired and making cash, but it is currently a chicken or the egg situation. Maybe not the greatest way to start out, but I have a friend who lives in the hiring radius. If I used their address, would I also need to change my license address, car registration address, etc before applying?
Question about hiring area

Many people have mailing addresses different than their domicile address. As long as you're in the same state, it won't matter.
-
Companies go by the address on your cdl.
They learned that if they hire anyway, even though the address is outside the hiring area, eventually the drivers start crying about not getting home time.
The way you described the company you're considering, seems like it's Dot Foods Transportation.tscottme Thanks this. -
You are very perceptive Chinatown.Chinatown Thanks this.

That's a very good company. Might be worth using your friends address on your cdl.FullMetalJacket Thanks this.

If you use your friends address, don't reveal that to any other drivers at the company. Every company has at least one snitch that will rat you out. Just keep it to yourself; it's no one else's business.

EVERYTHING in trucking is company dependent. Some companies MAY hire you living beyond the hiring radius and allow you to move into the radius. Another company may reject any application that is outside of the hiring radius. The only way to know for sure in your case (your address and the company with the DC 135 miles away is to have the company with the DC tell you. Guesses from strangers on the internet are not reliable, most of them may be from 5-40 years ago, anyway.
Do you know exactly what that company with the DC requires to hire new drivers? About 90% of newbies think all employers are hiring all of the time and that every company also hires newbies. Neither are true. THERE IS NO TRUCK DRIVER SHORTAGE and many companies will not hire newbies even if they are hiring stranger off of the street. That's why it pay sot find the job that will hire you BEFORE you start CDL school. -
A long commute on top of normal trucking stress isn't any fun at all. Depending on how often you get home. Too many newbies are too quick to think a long commute for work will not be a problem. It's often a big problem.
