Everyone has a different opinion on this but if I buy the head from H&H should I go cat head gaskets or would it be fine to get it from any reputable site like H&H or IPD etc?

I use the PAI or IPD head set and buy just the head gasket itself from CAT. I am adamant about that. 66 bucks is cheap for the hell I’ve had outta head gaskets. And still way cheaper than an entire CAT kit

Totally agree with wore out on the head gasket situation, some of the aftermarket gaskets will cause trouble beyond what they save in $$. I will also suggest cgr for cat reproduction parts like the head. I have used their stuff on lots of construction equipment and had great luck. Typically I use pai or mcbee for gasket type products. Not sure if reliance offers anything for a 3406 but I wouldn’t touch it with a 10 foot pole if they did.

Just a quick question, how would I know if I turned out to many on the screws, to jot on the pyro? To much black smoke?

Well ideally you need to measure rack travel. In my opinion a pyro behind the turbo is the biggest liar in the room. What it is good for is establishing a base line seeing where it runs consistently so if it changes you know there is an issue. I have seen countless and ran several myself that I know for a solid fact we’re backed out of at 900 and still blowed a hole in a piston. Pre turbo is way more accurate but also hotter and will get a turbo pretty often so pick your poison lol
