Most Mack dealers I see also sell Hinos . They put expeditor and wrecker bodies on them . They are not road trucks . Ride rough and way underpowered .

I believe Mack and Volvo are owned by the same company dont' hold me to that
    though.

I drive a 98 Mack CH 613 with a 350 hp motor. I love the truck, it also rides pretty
darn well also. Granted it's not a Pete or a similiar riding truck but I like it.

For the size motor it has my truck will sh@t and get. I also drive in the oilfields
doing exdedite work with Acme truck lines.

I think the reason you see Mack mainly in the service line of work and not OTR is
because they aren't the best riding trucks but you just can't beat em down. Like
and ole Timex they take a lickn and keep on tickn.

Macks are/where primarly construction based trucks. Mines and concrete trucks garbage trucks what have you. You see alot around here in my neck of the woods.

I was driving a 06 pete dump truck and it was a turd. We had a mack R model as well. We used both trucks to haul equip, dirt, trees, concrete tear outs and whatever else. The pete sucked hind tit in all catagorys except it had a cd player and the mack didn't. The mack out hauled, out drove and took a beating. I couldn't hang with the mack when driving the pete. The ole pete layed down so much we got rid of it and bought another R model. I started driving the mack we always had and never looked back.

Sure it was old but it ran like a scallded cat and never layed down. Took a real beating and kept on asking for more. We still see the pete we sold broke down here and there on the side of the road, but the macks are still ticking

I drove Mack trucks for 14 years. I worked for a company that owns 40 or more of them. I like a Mack. They are tough trucks. There specialty was is heavier construction,low-boy type use. Mack was not as popular as a otr. truck. They are common now days out on the road. A Mack "RAWHIDE EDITION" is as sharp as any truck you will find in my opinion.
