I understand guys thank you
G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
That doesn't mean it's a good idea. And it isn't the clutch you'll be replacing. Clutches are cheap. It's the tranny or the engine- or both. Don't float in a synchronized vehicle.G13Tomcat Thanks this.

You got a lot of us guys behind you. You are embarking on a helluva journey, it can make you or break you. Just follow the instructions of WHOMEVER is training you..... to a "T". . . . For all intents and purposes, it's on the fence as to whether it's easier to learn with or without prior standard/manual experience.
You'll be okay... and seriously, I know it sounds 'stupid' but it's how I taught my wife in the 10 speed... the Adams family ... not the whole song, lol.. just the da da da ..click click. I hear some instructors still use this; you can say you heard it here from some old guy, LoL!
swervyjoe Thanks this. -
My instructors have both driven for 40 years apiece give or take a few years. So between both of them 75 to 80 years experience. As far as i am concerned they're the instructors they know more than me so ill gladly listen to them and ask any questions i may have
dngrous_dime and G13Tomcat Thank this. -
And that's awesome, right there. Betcha one of 'em says the Addams family snap.. and NOW you KNOW~!
(it worked...how I taught my wife~!)
-
My uncles have told me that ultimately every driver is different and for the most part double clutching is only for school and road tests
-
He's pretty much correct. Ask him about the Addams family.. sure IS only to get thru the tests.
Best wishes, man. You've got a heckuva family to learn from (as did I..) and that means a lot. -
Its a family tradition ultimately though i want to take a different path and get off the road and go into ltl or food service possibly furniture since im close to tupelo
-
Go food service. Thats how i got my start almost 3 yrs ago. I'll never go otr. Im currently working out of town in the oilfield but i go to sleep in the same hotel room every night that my company pays for.
Heres another piece of advice you'll most likely be in a 10 speed. Between each gear is about 400-450 rpm's.
I started on a 10 and did almost 2 years in nothing but 10 speeds. Im in a 8LL now (pretty much a 9 speed with deep reduction for offroad-heavy loads) and i would of rather learned on that. Slower shifter than a 10 and no funky 5-6th transition
