It is shorter (believe it or not) to take I-80 west to I-15 (Salt Lake City) and south from that point (if you are going to Southern California). It is also straighter and less steep.

I 70 in Utah can get very icy, especially from the big hill west of Green River on over to I 15, and there aren't that many places to get off and wait out a storm. Like Road Kill said, I 80 to I 15 might be a better route if they are calling for bad weather across I 70.

Thanks I think I am going to take this route instead, I am going to Costa Mesa, CA souther cali. This way makes more sense, probably burn less gas. I was wanting to go through denver just to see it, but not worth the risk of the big snowy mountains of CO. Thanks for everyone response by the way, its greatly appreciated.
