Hey guys, im a rookie trucker with still not a year under my belt, but I was curious to know if any of yall had any insight on the NASCAR circuit. I know that getting a job to drive the actual Car Haulers for the teams is prolly next to impossible and slim, but what about the souvenier haulers that go to all the circuits and so on. Does anybody know what company actually does this and how much experience they require. Born and raised in NC so NASCAR's rooted deep in me. Im happy where I work now but long term a dream job for me would be travelin with the circuit. Any help would be great, thanks guys

SMI does a lot of the merchandise haulers like the JD trailer. Talked with the nice couple running the current one down at Talladega and it was kinda a word of mouth thing for those that have worked around them. They previously pulled for Rusty Wallace Racing before he downsized a bit.

I would say go to a track first thing in the morning and bs with some of them before they get busy to try and get some idea of where to apply.

Be aware, you don't just drive the truck and sit around watching the race, you'll probably help sell and stock the trailer, also , don't plan on being home during the season.

anything around NASCAR is VERY hard to get, only 2 ways in, either you know someone that works there and they get you in, OR you get very lucky and fall into a NASCAR job, thats how my Dad got into it (he drives a Car Hauler)

For the Actual NASCAR teams, you arent just a Truck driver, the truck driver is often the team cook or Tire Changer, or on the Pit Crew, a mechanic, etc they have other jobs within the team.

These jobs are VERY hard to get!

Now the other stuff, you get the same two ways.....but will have differant side jobs.

Your going to need allot more driving EXP, once you get that go to concord and start knocking on doors....if they wont hire you they WILL point you in the right direction.

I'm lucky my dad got his job, and now they want me!

They also make big bucks,I read somewhere that they make over $250,000.00 + a year. Now I don't know how true that is but I have heard and read that,I do know they make good money tho. Also I think you need at lease 5 + years of OTR experience, lot of those guys got any where from 10-15 even 25 years experience.I personally wouldn't do it,to much time away from home but it would be cool tho.

    :biggrin_2559:

    ummm no.

If your driving for a Cup Team, and have a Good 2nd job, Machanic, etc (not the cool, or gofer) maybe $50k-$75k

    Anyone else $30K-$50K....

My dads gig only pays $35K/yr, but its a better job then the guys that drive the Cup Car Haulers....money isnt everything.

As far as exp, my dad has only been driving since 2002, I've only been driving since 2008 and I'm linded up for a NASCAR carhauler....

I know Richard Petty Wants 7+ Yrs OTR Exp.
