I was thinking of Jersey City. Still close though
Not quite sure what a straight truck would pay...but Class A is around $30 an hour I believe. All the LTL's around that area is around $27-31 an hour for P&D. FXF, Central, Saia, A Duie Pyle, etc, except for YRC. High cost of living usually means higher payrate...and we all know how expensive North Jersey and NYC can be![]()

ok, then tell them what you were told.

oh well.....can't satisfy Crappy Hall.... -

Hey guys back again well today i went to the face to face interview with the manager of old dominion well he comes and tells me he honestly wants someone with exp driving a truck but told me that they have a straight truck position but is not open yet and if i was to work for them it would take 2 years for me to start driving a truck with doubles and yes they do fire you for three things he told me rear end someone, being on a hand held device, and driving reckless that you need to be patient because they do put alot of pressure on the drivers and what else oh start time would be at 9 or 10am and have atleast 12 stops... but overall he told me he got 7 guys to interview and he will just let me know which that answer usually i take it as a Yea u didnt get the job but he was cool though ..
dwells40 and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
2 years to drive doubles? Never heard of that before.
FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
The 3Rs you get fired for are rollover, runaway and rear ending.
The 2 years to drive doubles is BS. I've seen dock to driver guys drive doubles in less than a month once on their own.
Just keep applying for local jobs, someone will hire you. Keep your record clean and after a year you shouldn't have a problem getting into LTL.Jmelendez1223, FlaSwampRat and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -
Yea i also thought it was bs too after he told me that like 2 tears like really bro thats crazy he just kept telling me you meet the requirements but i just need someone that i can just put in a truck the next day but watever i just dont understand why bring a person for a interview if you know your not gonna hire them its just wasting time on both of us and then he comes and tells me yea we want this one guy badly because he gots 10 yrs under his belt but hes not getting back to any of our emails or calls smh in my head im like well that shows you he really dont want it as bad as i do
