I recently started pulling a flatbed on long haul runs as a company driver. I get 25% of the load pay. My question is, should the fuel surcharge be removed, or part of the load pay? They list it on my check stub, but I dont get any of that, I get a quarter of whats left. Can anyone tell me if this is right? Some say yes, some say no. :biggrin_2556:

That all depends if the shipper is adding the F/S into the total pay per mile that your seeing. I would talk to your pay roll.

Fuel surcharge is for the fuel, if you are not paying for the fuel, you should not get any.

Yes I know that but if they are giving it to you I would call them and ask them about that. I would not want them paying me extra and then 6 months from now them seeing it and wanting it back.

That is what I was thinking..since I dont pay for the fuel, I shouldnt get it. I will have to ask payroll why they even show it on my check. Thank you for the help!

Unless you are paying for the fuel as a company driver the fuel surcharge goes to the owner of the truck that pays for the fuel. Hence the name fuel surcharge.
