My trainer at SMI and I talk once or twice a month. He told me after I left, they were making permenenant local guys go over the road. As time went on, he told me that at the Montezuma terminal lost the two dairies they pulled from and that it got outbid by ETC. A few months went by and he told me that he was in danger of loosing his job (had 15+ years in the company) and that things were not looking good. I have not spoke with him since fall of last year. I live close to the Montezuma terminal and I do not seen any of our trucks there, but a ton of O/O and company ETC drivers. Even down in Valdosta at the other terminal, a friend of mine told me there were no trucks or tankers where that terminal is. It's abandoned. The headquarters for SMI is located in Belleview FL and they had OTR guys working out of there, as well as 3 shifts of local guys that slip seated.

Well, to be fair it seems as if my family has a curse. Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. For example, engine goes out in my work truck. They replace the motor and the day I get it back, passenger side window shatters due to a bird strike. Buzzard flies into it. They fix the window, and the NEXT DAY a turkey jumps out in front of the truck and shatters the windshield. Both bird strikes literally happened within a second and a half. Unavoidable and unpreventable.

Coincidence, I think not. This is a everyday thing.

I'm not implying anything is my fault. I mess up all the time. But for someone to imply that I am reflecting blame is another issue. What did you want me to do? Get laid off from SMI and have no monetary income coming in? Or spending more money in fuel that they neglected to pay me back at Pepsi? Or just drive out over the road and miss my court case and have my belongings I busted my ### for forfeited for free? I am asking for help to try and get back into trucking to make good money. 650 dollars a week is laughable in today's economy.

Might sound off the wall, but look into a temp service. I worked for 1 for a couple of years. It was a pretty good gig really. The one I worked at would call and ask if I wanted to do this or that. Always had the option of saying "no, that one doesnt sound like my cup of tea". I had 5 companies that would ask for me by name (2 of them would actually call me direct). One time I had 1 company call me to do a line haul run WHILE I was running line haul for another company that night. "Sorry Joe, cant run for you tonight, already working for someone else tonight...".

Pay wasnt too shabby either really. And I too am a job hopper - in 35 (+/-) years Ive had 20 (at least) jobs - and of that the one Im leased to Ive been here 5 years. 2 other companies 3 year stints, 2 for 2 year and the rest, well... a few months here a week or 2 there. I have a low threshold for ... well, pretty much everything. Being lied to, stupidity, inefficiency, incompetence, ect so on and so forth.

Your narrative paints a negative picture of yourself and I hope it doesn't get in the way of you scoring a good job.

From the looks of it, you currently have 1.5 years of employment under your belt in the transportation industry.
    1)
Perhaps you have additional employment time in addition to the 1.5 years of employment. Take whatever additional employment, in addition to the 1.5 years, & add it up, day for day, including your current 5 months at FedEx Ground.
    2) Afterwards, take the entire total & figure out how much more time is needed, to continue working for FedEx Ground, to equal 10 years day for day.
    3) After completing the remaining time at FedEx Ground, acquiring a full 10 year job history, day for day, then reapply at Indian River Transportation, or any other tanker company of your choice.

    NOTE:
    1)
Next month will be my 16th. year, (since 4/17/2007), at my current job. this is the longest that I have ever held a job.
    2) My current job is the 10th. job that I have had throughout my life. Job hopping does catch up to anyone who does it enough times. I have struggled all throughout my almost 16 years to stay as long as I did.

Good luck to you and your family! God bless you and your entire family!

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.

Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, every night, all year round.
