This was very funny! I think I know were you are talking about we went up and down Old Fort Mountain, which I believe is the main road you are talking about, several times when we were in trucking school then one time the teachers took us down this side road that reminds me of your story very tight curves and up and down.:biggrin_25523:

    Funny little story.

I was hauling gyprock wallboard out of Canada into the USA. This particular load was going to a small town just below Boston. My directions sent me to Exit Y off Interstate B (leaving numbers out for a particular reason), cross bridge over RR tracks and customer is first on left. It's about 3 AM, nothing much moving but a few trucks and such. I swing off the exit and whoooaa, there's barriers up and big sign saying bridge closed for repair (I can see the customer's yard). Then I notice a hand made sign; Trucks going to ------- yard take Exit X to your first right. Awright..... I go back to Exit X....... and the firstest thing I see is a sign saying "No 53 foot trailers allowed" (guess what I got). *SIGH*..... "Well"... I figure... "that must be set aside for temporary". So I start in. Just get past the sign when Smokey and his travelling light show lights up behind me. Young trooper swaggers up and snarls "Where the hell do you think you're going?". I shows him my bills and points over to the still-visible customer. "That's Exit Y", he snaps. Soooo, I explain exit is closed and about the sign. "#### surprising that a ####### Canadian can read all that and not see the sign that says no 53 foot trailers", he growls. Now I'm PO'd and figure "what the hey" so I go for broke. "Call me #######", I yell at him, "don't they teach you yankee flatfeet anything atall? Canada uses the Metric measuring system. My trailer is 53 METRIC FEET not 53 foot American.". Super Trooper stares at me like a deer in headlights. "Huh?, he says. "That's right, 53 foot Metric is under 48 foot American. Everybody knows THAT!!!" "Really?", he squeaks. " #### right. Don't believe me, go phone in to your watch commander. I bet he'll be REAL happy to educate you". "Uhhh, no", he replies quickly, I remember that now. We'll just forget about it, you're ok, carry on".

I set an all-time record for getting in, unloading and getting my butt outa there. Customer thot it was hilarious. I never went back.

Sometimes wonder if ST ever did figure it out.:biggrin_2559:
