    I have a 60 series and a dd15
Everything on the D15 motor is expensive to replace or repair the oil changes because you have more filters cost about $150 more per oil change the D 60 motor is a much simpler motor with less engine fault code problems the dd15 does not get as great of a fuel mileage savings as you think it's pretty comprable to the 60 series although I have not had many problems with my 15 series motor I did go through a water pump issue but that was it I've ran this motor about 75,000 miles this year and I have had no issues other than the water pump as a owner operator stay with the simple things do not get caught up in all the new technology look at all the farm boys what they're running they're not running dd15 Motors the running cat Motors

Rocks, I would really like to find out more about your issue. I have the same truck and am having the exact same issues. Would like to see how your situation turned out before I start making more repairs. I am getting ready to change the sensors.

Hey Mdtrucks2013... sorry you are having problem with the emissions system.. that really sucks... :biggrin_2552:
After having practically all the system parts replaced, over 4 thousand dollars repair (but covered by warranty), got the same problem again... And Freightliner said the filters were clogged up... again... and they cleaned them all. After that, the truck had a few "hiccups" not as bad as the first ones... Sometimes they would go away while driving, I would use lower gear and keep the RPMs high for a while and that would take care of the problem... Took truck to Freightliner a couple more times. They cleaned the filters, not sure what else they did. But the truck got better and didn't show the same problem again. I drove the truck for one more year and then they traded truck in with Freightliner when the warranty expired.
That truck had been sitting for months before I started driving it. They said that may have caused most of the problems to the emissions as they are not supposed to sit for too long. And idling also causes problems to the emissions. My company has APUs in all their trucks.
The truck I'm driving now is the same just one year younger and it hasn't given me any emissions problems... so far. But it may be traded in in a couple of months as it has 470 hundred thousand miles and about to lose its warranty.

Just come out with remote diagnostic for DD15 basically you go to one of their partner shops. They hook their computer up and the guys in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania can see what is wrong with your truck without going to Pittsburgh PA. The claim they can fix the problems other and dealers can't. They even have a custom tune/computer settings all 100% legal emissions settings.

    sdaniel and Rocks Thank this.

I guess your comment is aimed at Mr. Mdtrucks2013... He is the one with the problem...

The truck I used to drive and had problems with, is looooong gone.... But after several visits to Freightliner, the problem was finally fixed... before company traded in with Freightliner.
The Cascadia 2013 I drive now has 470k miles and hasn't have any emission system problem... Company may trade that with Freightliner in a couple months or so when warranty expires..

DD15 is a strong engine if cared for, maintained, and driven properly. If you are worried about MPG from fuel then you need to worry about truck aerodynamics, rolling resistance on tires, weight per load, and driving habits. Let everyone pass you by and waste fuel, they have money to burn at the pump and with IFTA.
