This is excellent, thank you for sharing. I was taught to always take the curves at or below the posted speed limit though, because they are specifically for truckers, even if just dry van. Are other truckers not doing this??

    I never ran smooth-bore tankers.

But I talked at length with other Schneider drivers (& instructors) who did.

Well what I am going to tell you does not apply to tankers. You have to ignore mega companies business model for tankers and some extent flatbed.

And, the business model is changing of resent years, due to economic conditions.

Most of the freight on the road is in dry van. Tanker, Flatbed, auto-haul is not even close to the volume of dry van.

Dry van surges in the third quarter in the retail build up to Christmas. Retail sales surge 20-70% in the holidays. In the world were we get everything from China, each retail sale is a dry van load at least twice, so that seasonal retail surge has a multiplier effect on the trucking industry making dry van very seasonal. In order to meet the needs of their retail customer, mega trucking has to have a highly seasonal work force. Come January, February, March, they need to get rid of workers. But they don't want to lay off workers, then they would have to pay higher unemployment taxes. If they fire them for 'safety reasons' they can avoid paying unemployment. Just like that, if you can add 2 + 2, you can see why mega trucking turns over 100% of its workers year after year: hire seasonal workforce, when annual downturn comes, fire for 'safety reasons' and sell some more trucking school.

Trucking school that the mega run brings in some great profits.
