I just can't wait till all the shippers start begging the FMCSA to change the reset rule because none of their goods are being moved over a weekend. Everyone will work Mon-Fri and take weekends off, just watch. I know that's my plan once it goes into effect.

This new ruling is really going to impact the oil field and heavy haul as well. Many of us pull a load, then sit and do a reset waiting on the product to be finished, then haul it back to somewhere. That will no longer be poss with this new rule.... total BS. But it is what it is

    Beat you.

    I already started this.

Although if it is a good load, I might do it once in a few months, but not every week anymore.

    SHC Thanks this.

I prefer to take my reset at home anyways, but sometimes the load is just too good to pass up. Plus I need the money, but soon I will operating in a 500 mile radius of home and that's it. FMCSA can suck it!!

This is so hard because too many people don't read what is in BLACK AND WHITE! Snowball effect one driver doesn't understand the plain and simple black and white rule so what happens he explains it WRONG to a driver asking about it, that driver tells another, that driver tells more etc etc. That's how it goes unfortunately. It takes 5 minutes to read the regs in black and white and understand them. Problem is too many people instead of visiting a reliable site will ask somebody that doesn't know the rule, and then get an unreliable answer and spread the wrong information. This is my view on the matter with as many threads as there are on this if you cannot figure it out by visiting the FMCSA site pleasedo everybody a favor and buy an elog! Its really not that hard when you look at it the main issue I have with the new regs is the break (for hopper drivers) and the 1-5 rest period for guys that run team or run nights. Those are my 2 main issues. Otherwise I have no reason to restart more than once in 168 hours. So it doesn't bother me, it actually makes it simpler to keep hours straight at times. To each their own I want to see how safe these HOS laws are in the next couple years wonder if it will make a difference in accidents.

It's just another way for the clowns at the FMCSA to make sure we run less in a week. It's all a matter of economizing your hours so you don't run out before time and then have to sit. I guess they think they were doing us a favor by giving us the 34 hr reset in the first place, not to assume it was a right. Now that they've gone backwards in effect, we will have to put our thinking caps on and figure out how not to run out of hours.
Common sense tells you the best way is to run less miles, less time and eventually we will all get used to it.
Piece of cake. We truckers are smarter than they think !!:biggrin_25512:
Now only if I can convince dispatch to be on the same page we will all benefit. As far as I'm concerned, the days of 11-13 hrs on duty time are over !!
