Try Carolina Logistics; sometimes they cut some slack. Probably ship you to school in North Carolina.

So, regarding the question about having limited driving experience. The WIA caseworker will undoubtedly try to use this against you, because their goal is to arbitrarily deny funding to as many applicants as possible. It will be your burden, to show them that this will not make you any less employable. To do this, contact as many prospective companies as possible. Specifically e-mail them and ask them if they have any minimum "class c license" requirement for a specific time frame. I don't believe this is usually a requirement of any carrier, but again you will want to have this in hand when you apply for funding, because like I said, they will deny you for any reason whatsoever. The state doesn't want to spend $5500 if they can get out of it. Go in there prepared.
Besides having a basic understanding of traffic rules, Class C experience is irrelevant to driving a big rig anyways, in my opinion. You won't have any bad class C driver habits and can learn how to drive the right way. Coming from a Class C driver's license, I was inclined to not swing as wide as I should have while turning, and I almost took out a few stop signs with this stupid little 27 foot trailer when I was learning. You'll soon have far more miles in a CMV than you ever could in a Class vehicle anyways. So take it for what it's worth.Jfain706 Thanks this.
