Can they put me out of service for the trailer being dented? This is the first time I've ever seen a trailer like this

That kink at the top? I don't think so. It has nothing to do with the safe operation of the unit. I wonder how that got there?

I'd check that the metal of the roof panel isn't sticking up more than an inch or 2. I'd also document it and call your company. Lastly, I'd check for leaks. FWIW, if you are going through the Eisenhower tunnel, an extra inch might get you refused....

If the authorities put you out of service only the authorities can override that OOS. Please don't ask around until someone tells you a trick & you decide to drive while OOS. If you do, please don't come back & ask about finding another job after you were fired or your CDL is suspended. Nobody giving you advice will pay your bills or buy you a lawyer.

Just like folks said. Make sure the top of trailer is not sticking out. I was turned around in bridge tunnel in Virgina, because a load of hay was sticking out in few spots making it higher than 13’6 in few spots.

Ryder is never happy about anything.
Lonesome and bryan21384 Thank this. -
It never ceases to amaze me how some folks can be so skillful at tearing equipment up. I too want to know how that happened.
Lonesome Thanks this. -
To me the damage looks like someone turning 90 deg to a pull-thru spot and hitting the trailer beside them.

Drop and hook trailers. That’s our fellow idiots being off their mark by a foot or so and still jamming it home. A large portion of our trailers look like this. The good thing is there’s no puncture at the top.
Despite people crapping on Hyundai dry vans, they have the best rub rails in the business. The buyer can get either of those upper corners extended full-length, for a double rail.
dosgatos and prostartom Thank this.
