There are plenty of drivers "living" in their trucks full time. You get a room when you want (go for a 12 pm check in and 12 pm check out) to take advantage of a full 24 in the room, as opposed to checking in at 6 pm and checking out at 6 am. So you need to know up front that you'll be sitting for the weekend, for instance.
A PO box from the U.S.P.S. is legal for a mailing address, but, you'll need a physical address for tax purposes. Use a family member's address. I have an Az. CDL with a PO box address. But, that's my MAILING address, DMV has a physical address on file, which is a neighbors address across the street from where I use to live, and where I haven't been for 3 yrs !
You gotta' remember, you need to get away from the truck every now and then. Driving it all day long, sleeping in it all night long, sitting in it hours on end joshing on the C.B. gets tiring.

I think for now you would be making a huge gamble living in the trk kind of like these ppl that lease from a company. Most that start out with a company don't last more then a few short months. They don't give the company any kind of a notice before they quit and some get fired. But if you're bound and determine to do this, before quitting a company make sure you have another company otherwise you may be staying in your car for awhile.Remember this,in trucking always have a back up plan otherwise sadly enough you're going to be the one left out in the cold so to speak.
mje Thanks this. -
It's okay to live out of a truck to save some money up. But it gets old after a couple years. Even truck drivers have to have roots.
Don't forget the big picture and one day you'll want a home paid off when you retire. A smart person prepares for their future and not live short term. A home is an investment, so you are not throwing money away if you are not sleeping in it. The earlier you start the quicker you pay it off. Plus it is nice to have a place to go for your home time and yell at your dispatcher when they don't get you there! -
my experience when i was in training my trainer lived in his truck and when he did his 34 hr. reset he did it in terminal had his car at terminal so had a way around while on break. belonged to a fitness place so had acess to showers when on break children lived in the area so he was able to see them. if you don't mind living in such a small place you will do fine living in the truck get yourself a rice cooker and a crock pot and you will be good to go
