Ya, sadly from what I inferred is that I wont be able to train without a SPE. In order to get one tho, you need to have a CDL already in place, which after you do the state CDL written test, road, and skills test, you have to go and do a test conducted by the feds. So I guess im back at square one. But this wont stop me friends, I will go to school, and I will get my CDL. It'll just take way more time. I guess its time to hoard all my funds and save up for a school.

Having and keeping a positive outlook is Job 1 in this thankless industry. It's hard to keep and essential for sanity and success, however you define it for yourself. Best of luck.

If only there were more people with this kind of attitude and less of the "Don't follow your dream, flip burgers instead" crowd. I wanted to drive my whole life too, and when I turned 21 I let some not so optimistic driver friends talk me out of it. Fast forward 7 years and I'm finally just getting my start. Do what you want to do Echos. I'm sure you've never let anything stop you in the past.

Not a huge loss, you can do better than prime. I would recommend private school over company school to anyone. But, if you really want company school there are a lot more companies that train. I would call them all, explain your situation and see what they say. Maybe @Chinatown can suggest some more companies to look into.

I had a career as a professional pilot and FAA supervisory safety inspector for 40+ years until I retired in 2011. Then I went to CDL school on my own and have never regretted the move. If you want to do it, do it. Just turn off the CB and don't spend much time in drivers lounges listening to the BS and his can be a remarkably rewarding business.

Make sure you get the medical question completely answered before plunking down a bunch of cash for CDL school, whether on your own or by contracting with another company like Prime.

Sorry to hear about the delay. I really like your positivity. If you follow your own words, you'll have success in anything you do. Maybe there are some state agencies that can help you pay for school? When I was in school, there were tons of guys with funding from many different sources, not just unemployment. There were at least 6 different sign in books all for different funding programs. Start dialing up some numbers and see what you can come up with. Good luck again.
