Ahh...I see, that would be a problem. The only places I ever got that familiar with were the John Deere plants up there around Davenport, IA.
-
I use to run John Deere also... Out of Ottumwa when I pulled a step deck. All that securement they put on.... Couldn't hardly get it off with a hacksaw... But you still had to throw chain & straps to satisfy DOT
-
hey notarps wasnt trying to steel your handle ,it dont bother me to tarp thats all lol
-
A lot of mine were preloads...no securements on them though. There were a few that were quite the puzzle (for example a hay baler on its side, along with several other things on the trailer). The only good thing about these loads was the length of haul, most were between 7 and 9 stops and the longest I hauled was just over 5,000 miles...1 load.
The heavy equipment was easier...I'd get the serial #, go find the machine, drive it on, chain it down, hang signs and flags (if it was oversize), get paperwork and roll...loved those loads. -
No problem... it's an old handle back when I skated and did not tarp...
-
Mine were preloads also. Didn't they use that green wire on yours to tie the machines to the trailers?
The best frieght I've ever hauled.... Fire Hydrants out of South St. Paul. usually 10 to 15 stops & normally finalizing out around LA. Most stops were perfectly spaced out a days drive from each other. Or have 3-4 stops within within a 30 mile radius of each other... Then 600 miles to the next stop. -
Oh...those.
They used them to secure the equipment to the pallets and to secure driveshafts on hay balers and things like that...but I never had any used to hold anything on the trailer. -
Mine were always ran down thru the stake pockets & back around... I normally left them in place until I delivered... Then start begging for wire cutters....

I hauled a load of pipe out reno, NV. to CA., I called the permit office in CA. They told me as long as the tractor/trailer/load did not go over 70' it would be okay, I think my truck trailer is 65'. The pipe was 53 feet, so I had 2.5' on the front and 2.5 on the back of a 48' trailer. I didn't have any problems at the scales in CA.cpassey Thanks this.
