I doubt it. I ain't lived here to long. Been in the area maybe 5 years now. Spent 2 years in Apison then bought my house here in Wildwood shortly after Chattanooga dropped their truck speed. Personal feelings... I figured that the County wasn't going to support my employment... So why should I support them with my taxes... Moved to Georgia! A whole 5 miles away!
I was running for Jordan Carriers out of Natchez, MS. After 3 years with them I got tired of their micro-management... So I gave up trucking all together. Came home! Drove a ice cream truck awhile (no money in that) then finally got hired to do local shuttle work for Coca Cola on Amnicola. Been doing that for about a month now but it isn't paying the bills... So Monday I'm going down to Calhoun, GA to lease onto All American Xpress. Pull their reefers for awhile until I get enough money built back up to buy all my skateboard equipment back.
shhh don't tll them your gonna pull a reefer.. We were reading your posts when we thought you was a skateboarder...
But I did state that I would return to flatbedding in a year or so... You've heard the saying "When you know everything about trucking you might as well go home & hang up the keys because now your dangerous" Well... I decided to go into learn mode... Reefer will be a new experience for me. And to tell you the truth, I'm kind of excited to try it. Mainly because I'll feel like a rookie again & can resort to all those stupid questions that everyone says ain't stupid... But they secretly laugh about the fact you asked when your not around....
And if you like doing what ever you can to defy the law... Flatbedding is great. In the picture below you'll see those beams are just a few inches from hitting my headache rack. I had to slide them that far forward to get less then the 4' hanging off the back. Most states require you to be permitted & flagged oversized if you have more then 4' off the back! Sure... One wrong move & those beams will be in the cab... That is why you have to secure it more then a normal load & still be extra careful... Turning corners & parking in truck stops at 3 a.m. can be a little tricky as well. Those of you who drive for Maverick know the mill where this picture was taken... Not saying the name myself, but I will say it is in Cartersville, GA.
Perhaps you've been there when I've been there... I haven't been there for maybe 6 months now... I always use to bribe the ladies with candy over the radio with hopes I would get loaded sooner... Never worked though
I believe that would still be illegal....but I may be wrong. Its over 53 feet...no matter which end its sticking over on. I wouldn't have hauled that load...but thats just me, I'm picky that way. It would have been safer to get the permits. Overlength permits are not a big deal until you get up over 65 feet or so.
