I'm just curious to anyone newer in this industry or those updating their fleet what are you paying for Van trailers?
I don't mean this at all as knocking anyone but if you're a new authority and you're paying whatever you're paying for insurance did you really just buy a 2006 trailer and pay $25-30,000 for it?
I know some of you had ordered trailers previously and you're waiting on new trailers but to those that are not in that situation are you paying $45,000 for a 2016 trailer?
And again I don't mean that as knocking anyone I'm just curious what anyone is paying for their trailers because I'd like to update mine maybe the next year or 2.
Maybe I should order a new one? How much is a new Van trailer nowadays anyway?

I just paid my last my installment on mine 2017 trailer and originally I intended to trade it for another brand new but it is not happening, because from I was told not too long ago from the Utility dealer was that they did not have any new order allocations. Maybe it changed in the last few weeks? I think they are well above 40K, if not 45K these days.Speed_Drums, Dino soar and Siinman Thank this. -
I am leasing to own a 2014. I had no choice. I will end up overpaying for it. Couldn’t find anyone that would rent one to a new authority. Buying wasn't an option at the time not only because of money but there were no trailers to be bought. I checked every freaking where. I don’t have a truck payment so it’s not a big deal financially, its just the principle of it that eats me up.

I've got a 14 and 17 Hyundai fixing to go to auction. I expect both to bring over 40k

I'm not paying anything because the asks are absolutely obnoxious. Literally more than I paid for my truck and it has far more moving parts, and some 19 year old with no future can't tear its walls apart.

I looked into getting another trailer for my New truck coming. Most places want 40-70K for a good used trailer. Not worth it to me so gonna sell the old truck instead of trying to put a seat in it for power only. Have not checked for new but guessing they are going for 40 -45K. I bought my new 22 right before the crazy at 38,000 Owner Op Spec.

I see old trailers for 35 and 40000.
If I could find a good older trailer with the specs that I want it wouldn't bother me to spend 10 or $15,000 even for an 01 or 05.
The market value is what it is but every time I see a trailer if it's let's say an 01 or 05 something like that these guys want like $25000 or more.... And these are not spotless road ready like new trailers.
And it does always seem to take them some time to sell them because they're really trying to strangle everyone...
It is what it is.Siinman Thanks this. -
Ritchie bros auctions have been around 40k - 60k for 5 year old or newer dry van... Reefers. Anywhere from 20k to 110k.
ProfessionalNoticer, TallJoe and Siinman Thank this. -
And how many of those guys are trying to resell them for a profit...D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
