One thing I do know from my previous drop & hook days as a linehaul company driver, is that a load from the previous week that didn't quite meet the cut-off, can really skew the following week's settlement.

See you cant. 65 mile per hour truck but you never averaged 65 mph. Your average is more like 50 to 45. This includes all driving. Stopped, accelerating, slowing down. If you drove 4,300 miles at 65 your at 66 hours. Cant do that with a top speed of 65. If you did the normal, like stop at red lights, load, hit traffic a good day is 50 mph its 86 hours. And safely your more around 45 mph average is 96 hours. Horse turds. You need a dispatcher to zero out your logs for that.

630-50 is about the max you can get in a single day at 65mph and still do your on duty fueling/pre-trip and I always do 10 mins on duty at the shipper/reciever.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
600 miles is not hard to do.. If I'm out here I want to run.. I hate sitting still soon as I have a reset and unloaded I want to be moving on my next load. I'm not out here to hang out at Loves or Pilot parking lots. -
Example.. tomorrow my next load picks up here in Memphis, TN its 30ish miles away. I can't pick up until 1500 to 2000 it delivers in ,Wilmington, IL the claimed miles are 508 so all in all it wi'll probably be 600 miles roughly.. The load is not due until 3pm Sat.. drop/hook.
Assuming I can pick the load up at 1500ish I will drop it sometime around 4-5am roughly 10 or 11 hrs before its due. By the time my load was due I'll have a reset ready to go for my next load.. That's how I run..
The load pays $800ish..Not great, I won't claim it is, but the way I run I make that $800 in a single drive day. Also I'm buying fuel in IL for $1.74/gal... so there is that as well..Last edited: Dec 20, 2018

You can not have a running average mph of 61 mph in a 65 mph truck. Its average all driving time. So you pick up preloaded trailer on the side of the interstate and the only time you are not at max mph is while getting up to speed? No you drove thru town, loaded, stopped for a red light, or a train.

I'm trying real hard not to doubt you. However, I'm having a hard time grasping how anyone could run that many miles in 7 consecutive days on 10 hour per day recaps. And include daily pretrips, fueling, mandatory 1/2 hour break, loading times, unloading times, etc, and have a daily average of of over 60 mph.
