If you stop a lot your average speed goes down.. if you drive your average speed goes up.. average speed is irrelevant you have 14hr clock and 11hrs on duty.. That gives you almost a full hour each day extra to get more miles or do your pre-trips..
driving 65 you will do 600 miles in roughly 10hrs. If you sit in city traffi no you will not.. That was highway driving mostly out west.. very easy to do 600 mile days
Obviously after running that week my clock was dead so I did 34hr reset.. hence Why my next week was lower because I lost a day..Last edited: Dec 20, 2018

I'm just amazed these guys can't figure out how to run 600 miles a day... Maybe that's the real reason the truck stops are all full no one works anymore... They do 300 miles and claim It's a day and blame elogs...Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Well 300 miles is good if you can make money... For example I pulled a 319 mile run about 2 months ago... paid me $1000... so yea thats a good day...Rideandrepair and jamespmack Thank this.

4200 miles in 7 days averaging 64 mph for a total driving hours 65.75 the rest for fuel d+h or p/u del. in other words 21 15 min periods is believeable. And possible. And Legal.

Yes, short loads are great if you can get reloaded fast or dont deal with crappy food wharehouse shippers/recievers.
The problem for me with short loads, is actually 2 problems. The 1st is the shipper and recievers and the time it takes to load/unload. The 2nd issue is with a big mega like Prime I usually can't get a 2nd load that same day.
Example a few weeks ago I pulled a $2,200 load from TN to NJ. Dropped it was given a $500 load where I drove 20 miles to a shipper and then delivered back to the same place I dropped that day. The problem was ok I picked the load up that day but I cant get unloaded until 1pm the next day.. Meaning Im on that load 24hrs for $500. While it's ok but end of the week it doesn't add up..
The next load I had was $800 for 300 miles from NJ to MA.. Again problem was the shipper.. Beer load and it wasn't ready so now I get forced into a reset. I then have to drive wee hours of the night to get to the reciever at 7am.. I get unloaded but now my clock is half dead. . The 300mi/$800 load now ties me up 2 days because can't run a new load that day.
I sit for 3hrs b4 getting my next load and get forced into restarting my clock mid break to get to my next shipper so Id have a fresh clock once I'm loaded to go to Maine.. So basically I tied up 2.5 days for $1300 vs the TN to NJ was also 2.5 days but I made $2,200
That week I could have had a crazy week because I was way ahead, but all the short low paying loads took too long and ate up my week. I barely made over $4k that week and it could have easily been in the $5-6k but the rest of my week got filled with ####ty little loads..
I know the short loads can be better money per mile, but at Prime at least for me I don't like them because there is too much to go wrong everytime you back into a shipper or recievers door.. its all a crap shoot if you will be there 2hrs or 10..
I prefer to run the bigger loads so I run into less issues at shippers/recievers and not sitting around waiting to get sent my next load.Last edited: Dec 21, 2018

True . Finding a good balance of higher paying short Load with longer higher per day revenue Load is a constant Challenge. I’d just rather run long but sometimes a short trip when I’m wore out anyway works good. Either way overall average has to add up
