I didn’t have a down payment bc it was a renewal. So I just went right into the payments. Yea it’s throwing money away but it’s the sacrifice I chose instead of going over the road. It was either one or the other. I can promise I won’t pay those rates another year. I will quit driving or put somebody in the truck.

I understand that part I was talking about the $1.70 a mile talk. I also like to think about the time I have in loads. More often then not I will have a backhaul so I end up grossing around $900 as well depending on where I go. And $3 mile is my minimum. I shoot for $4 to $5 just to see what I can get.Bfr38 and Rideandrepair Thank this.

That’s almost Criminal. It’s a wonder Anyone gets Authority any more. I don’t think I would if starting out now.mine is $8400 yr total. Even that’s too much!!! IMO

It is criminal. I don’t even like to talk about it. Just put my head down and do it. I can say that I have been blessed to be able to pay it and take care of my house and family with what I’ve made. And I’ve had a glorious run the entire month of December.Bfr38 and Rideandrepair Thank this.

You were asking earlier the difference in being leased on and having your authority...
For example the cost to run my truck is around $8,000 per month and thats fuel, truck payment, trailer pmt, insurance, and $100 a week maintenance account.... I may incrase this amount next year because I want it to build more next year...
and like i said your gonna have about $2500 in renewals every year for your documents and registration... well at least I do...
Now being leased to someone Like USA for example where they pay for everything. When I was leased to them my insurance bobtail/physical damage was like $32 a week. So only thing your gonna have is truck payment, fuel, and escrow which was $100 a week.
So to be leased onto someone for me was around $6,600 per month..
So adding everything together- $98,500 cost to run truck with Authority for 1 year
Adding everything together- $79,200 to be leased onto someone for 1 year...
These are rough estimates as fuel prices may go back up. But a difference of $19,300 for me...
Keep in mind I got 11 years experience no accidents and no tickets (Now) and no criminal record... You got 2 years experience... big difference in insurance rates...Last edited: Dec 21, 2018
superhill56 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
That makes sense. I wonder how big a difference is in the amount you can make in comparison to the same amount of miles driven.
-
Not sure on that one... I've had a lot more time with my authority than with leased on... maybe someone else can make a comparison to that.. @Rooster1291979 made a chart where he was leased on this year so I know we can go back and look at that chart...superhill56 Thanks this.

Sometimes It works to perfection and sometimes I strike out. I refuse to carry super cheap heavy stuff. It’s not worth the time or the wear and tear. Let the megas have it!!!Rideandrepair Thanks this.

I ran for a couple companies that focused on short loads. Half of freight was last minute brokered spot market. Paying Drivers and O/O a flat pm rate. They made a killing on Us. More than the Truck made I’m sure.
superhill56 Thanks this.
