Question for registration

    Hi
    I bought a truck from a dealer in ohio and he gave me title under my llc name
    I’m from Florida and I wanna register my truck here
    Can I leave the title in ohio state and do registration in Florida since florida state require to pay sales tax for 6.5% to transfer out of state title
    What should i do

    Double check on that 6.5%. Heavy duty commercial vehicles are exempt in most cases if it’s a sales tax and it does sound like by the %.
    To answer your question: No.
    You have to title where your company is based. You could register elsewhere for example if you were leasing onto a carrier based in a different state, but the title has to be be in your state regardless.

    Almost everything used in Interstate transportation is tax exempt. Each state has their own exemption form they want you to complete. I keep copies of them on hand for the states I do most of my business in.
