Question for short haul drivers

Im intra state owner op. I dont leave Ohio. I use a combination of hopper, flat bed with sides, and van trailer. When there is good paying work I work. And that mean just that. Days, nights, weekends. I can be selective but it can effect you at end of month. Long time truck tech too. So in slow times I can make some money wrenching on anything, trucks, cars, farm machinery. Actually spent 1 week and a half this summer with a buddys construction company. He needed a extra guy and I didnt have much going on. But I swear them shingles were lighter at 18 then at 37 years old. They had all to laddered to second floor. No room for boom truck. It was fun. But made climbing back in the truck Monday look like a dream vaction. Lol good luck, you can make this work however you choose.

 

I'm starting at 0415 and running 4 to 6 tanker loads for about 250 to 300 miles a day. Locations vary but their all the same customer. It's quite relaxing, actually. Occasionally, I get to pull a box or a grain trailer.

I'm usually clocked out by 1400 to 1600. Five days a week paid hourly.

 

i work in the oil and gas industry. 12 hour days. six days a week. but home every night

 

Im a Dump trucker. I get paid by the hour and if its a state job I get 21.75 per hour. Took home 975 last week. If you go this route try to find a good company because some will expect reckless behavior but im not making a blanket statement because my current company puts safety as priority 1.
