Lol, so a team truck that did less than 10000 miles a month. Seems like you don't have a clue to what you are talking about or they didn't really want to drive full time. Come on man.
Question for Stevens drivers that recently went through orientation??

They were leasing. It shows exactly how much money was being deducted from their checks for truck payments, fuel, maintenance, escrows, etc. It also goes to show what a ripoff leasing is.
So whenever you wanna insert your foot into your mouth is fine with me. -
you suck, for a bit I thought I had a bug on my screen!
flightwatch Thanks this. -
I'm not talking about their take home (net) pay. You said a team truck had 101,000 in gross pay. If they were being paid .88 a mile, that is less than 10,000 miles a month. A team truck doing less than 2500 miles a week? That doesn't make sense.
-
You are figuring your math as if they ran every day. That they had no home time, no days off, no resets or other forms of down time. I can't give you exact figures because I don't have them. I do know what they told me and I trust them because they have no reason to lie to me.

Fair enough. Not in doubt of you, just always seem to hear stories of people that didn't make money, and it is most of the time that person or team's fault...not the company. I'm not saying Stevens is anywhere near being the best, but the potential for money is there if you run hard, take all loads, be on time, and be a cordial, decent human being.

They asked me if I wanted to lease exactly once... I told them I was not interested in renting a truck from them, from that point on, it was a QC message about once a month. Thats it. Just say NO!
You mention a business class, I never had one because I said NO...
You fell for it, hope you learned something from it. I did not fall for it, never had a negative check...
If I remember right, from reading in the Aviary, didn't you also lease from John Christener?,
Leasing from the same people giving you your freight is never a good idea, always stacked in their favor. A little comon sense and running the numbers should demonstrate that.Last edited: Nov 4, 2015

leasing itself isn't bad... leasing onto a carrier that pays by the peanuts per mile is bad.
-
Pay is not the only consideration. Prime pays percentage, go there and piss the dispatchers off and watch the loads dry up.
Leasing from the people giving you your freight gives them entirely too much control over your life.
There is a reason more fail than succee -
Okay well I'm leasing a truck from a carrier and am doing fine.. only difference is I'm the dispatcher.
You are right though, I have heard horror stories from Prime.
If a dispatcher doesn't like you you're all over.
