You've never used your jake to pick up a gear fast on a hill?

Feedman, Tall Mike, starmac and 5 others Thank this.

No. Never even heard of a two stick transmission until of few weeks ago.
    I was rather tacken aback.

Makes me feel like I have never even attended truck training school.

    Feedman and Oxbow Thank this.

Never. Thought never crossed my mind. And I have seven years driving experience.

You make me feel like a first week student.

    Feedman and Oxbow Thank this.

I was lucky when I first started. I had friends and relatives to ask question of. I had to grow some pretty thick skin because the advice was always prefaced with insults but that's just the way things were in those days. LOL...if you talked to a rookie that way now he'd probably file a suit against you for hurting his feelings..
A lot of stuff a guy just picks up by watching, and by listening, and by trial and error. Sometimes a lot of error. I never learned anything while I was talking.

No, in regard to rounding the pattern, it really doesn't matter whether or not you use the clutch. When you get it stuck in a gear it is actually the linkage inside the cover of the brownie that gets bound up.

I can see it in my mind, but probably can't put it into words.

It was a different era for sure. At least you are intrigued and curious about it. That means a lot!

Then that is a design and engineering flaw. Extensive road testing would have encountered this.

    In a perfect world. :(

    Oxbow Thanks this.

Well, shifting never came naturally to me. Not by a long shot.

Seeing a two stick shifting transmission means I have more to learn than I thought I did. I see it as another challenge to learn the ways of this two stick beast.

Feedman, Bean Jr. and Oxbow Thank this.

Really more of a case of wear in the shifting linkage. I never drove a new one but some were more prone than others.

Feedman, Tall Mike, starmac and 2 others Thank this.
