Yep, you could run that winch so slow you couldn't hardly see it moving, or make it sing you a song coming in. lol
The 10 spd macks had 10 reverses. lol

Mack had that cornball air shift, kinda like an over and under 10 speed,( reverse was on the air button) and who could forget the air 4x4. I drove a Ford dump truck with a 238 and a Spicer air 4x4. What a PITA THAT was.

Reverse races. Built a 4 lane parkway years ago. Drove a old log truck converted to belly. 6x4 boxes and could run 32mph in Reverse. King of the Parkway. Ha

Spicer made a 15 or 16 with multi-position splitter, didn't they? I remember seeing something oddball like that in a crane, way back when.

Back in the day Spicer offered 12, 14, 16 and 20 speed boxes.
Always wanted to but never had the chance to really drive one myself, unless you count bobtailing a friends truck with a 14 spd around the block as driving one.

Some literature here about them and others.

The first diesel truck I bought had the 4X4 air shift. The only thing I would have liked better was the 5X4 air shift they built. Up until that time most trucks I had driven had 2 sticks, that air shift made me lazy. lol

I drove a 4x4 air shift once. It seems like there was alot of overlap, so not a progressive 16 if I remember correctly. I never did figure out how to shift the air brownie without it grinding. Not sure if it was me or something in the transmission. Only drove that truck a time or two.
