Question for truckers who operate in the Wilkes-Barre area

It means you can't take a 102 inch wide trailer over 28.5 feet in length. A 96" wide trailer that's 53 foot long can is the road, although the State Police will likely stop and measure you if they see you.

 

I have not had the pleasure. In my time we had a choice of a smaller older 50's era truckstop (Before the hilltop Petro was built) or a rest area camping out. We did not in our time feel that welcome to put a 18 wheeler downtown in Wilkes Barre any longer than we had to for unloading. Sometimes a people in a city come across as somewhat unfriendly when you and your smoky joe 18 wheeler is not welcome.

HOWEVER.

There have been plenty of places around the USA where me and my money was more than welcome. Particularly if I fed around 7 parking meters at once with a whole pile of quarters, dimes or nickels if necessary. It is worth the entertainment for me to witness a local Lawman telling dear Citizen mad mad that I am parked legally to curb, paid for two hours (Engine running and all) and no harm done. There is nothing to enforce against me. I have actually taken naps. It cost less than the 10.00 demanded by the TA in say connecticut from time to time if I did not buy fuel.

 

This wasn't downtown I don't think. It was just off I-81, right by the Texas Roadhouse. I don't remember the stores. Some were vacant and a lot of trucks were along the woods behind the shopping center. I will definitely stay there again. Maybe 1 mile off I-81.

 

So that pretty much settles it then. No 437 for restriction against 102 inch trailer.

But you could take a say 96 inch wide 48 foot trailer down that way right?

I guess you could, but cops would probably still pull you over and give you a hard time. Most trailers are 102 inch wide today I think
