If they put the info you might laugh at them.... Aka CHR with a 3pm p/u in Memphis and a 7am appointment at a Walmart DC in Ohio the next morning for a "hot" load. If its hot then you can double the pay and ill relay it otherwise reschedule and take a class in math.

The Borkers are easy to figure out....They dont post any info because they want telephone calls..They want the call

Now you have the Borkers that will post the rate.....Generally when you see a RATE which is rare...Its a Firm number especially from Admiral Merchants motor freight or Jones motor group
Those brokers think their poop is fresh and delicious and they can move anything without negotiation

Then you have the Borkers that fish for trucks on Ghost Loads just to get quotes

Then you have Borkers that call YOU.....Dont post the Load and Hope they can Lure your truck becuase..."You've done this 1 for us before"

Then you have that Yellow-Belly carrier with 40 years of service that think I should treat a Borker in the same manner I do my Customers With building a Lasting relationship......

    That'll be the day

Borkers a good for 1 thing........Helping potential customers with logistics and solutions to distribution of their products....

As for the Carrier side..They Provide nothing for us to Benefit on..Only Lose on

Just fishing for trucks is why the lack of info. I never post what rate I require when I post my truck available. Same thing, different side of the fence.

Everyone needs to take a lesson from Rollin Coal. He has a small group of great brokers that he will move heaven and earth for because they have shown they can be trusted and treat him with respect.

Then he has a little larger group that knows who he is, that when he commits he will make it happen and they don't have to worry about the load or the customer being serviced. But he is the final option because the rate is high.

Then all the rest. And while he isn't going to do any favors for them he will treat them with respect, quote his price and move on if they can't meet it.

What he doesn't do is trash them or treat them disrespect. He understand that today they may not pay him but tomorrow they may. He has learned from experience that the the broker that many will insult can and has turned into to a broker that is on his short list.

The stories about how he has turned a bad situation that most drivers would drive off in a fit of rage into more money and good relationships seems almost endless.

And I am sure that some of this is because of his personality a larger part is because he understands the business and doesn't buy into all the negative BS.

As far brokers not posting information I am sure much of it has to do with they don't have information or the person posting it doesn't have the information.

I dont trash all brokers. And in all fairness alot of the ones that dont sound like they dont know whats going on , probably dont. Poor training, just like a poorly trained driver. I dont think all brokers are out to screw every trucker over , but just like in trucking a few can ruin the rep of all. Whats more I have dealt with alot of brokers that pay me what I ask for , dont gripe of detention and overall are respectable and fair.

Yes it does bother me when they dont put any info , you call them and they have all the info. I think its just being lazy. Same as a dispatcher not confirming addresses or appts. ( I dispatched for about 15 yrs).

I hear all the talk about telling brokers off at truck stops and even brokers telling me that its been a long day of drivers telling them what they think of their mothers. I dont do that, and I dont undertand it. Id rather politely say if anything changes , heres my # and look for a money making load. 10 minutes of telling a broker off are 10 minutes I could of used to look for good freight.

Good post Bill......Sounds like rollin Coal is a very courteous individual....

As i agree with showing professionalism and respecting folks in this Industry........

I cant conduct myself to do business of any degree of regularity with a freight broker...I just can't
Maybe because i Tried this Route early in my career..

i was told many years ago a few things I keep dear to my heart..

1.Always think things through,,,People will only do what OTHERS allow them to do (Think about this)
2.Pay for everything in life with CASH.......Do not borrow from anyone
3.Conduct business eye to eye with a Customer .......Never Hire outside 3pl's or CSR's or Freight Brokers

my Grandfather whom no longer is with us gave me a great lesson on business......yes its old fashioned, But no form of technology or current standards of business can ever copy a firm handshake eye to eye

I choose NOT to use freight brokers very often becausae of their Canny way to get under your skin...Even the "honest" ones are here to make money...And they will Penetrate
a carrier to do that......Yes,Their are good, ethical, honest brokers out there........The Risks dont equal the reward building a lasting relationship with them.....(thats just my opinion)

LOL talk about the tables being turned .
A broker called me today and asked me what I wanted to move a load. I told her and she got upset started huffing and puffing where do I get off asking for that much. I kept my cool and told her she can call me back if she wants, she blurted out shed never call me again and hung up on me. It was late in the day and I know the loads still sitting there.

Here is the real question. What does the broker make off of you? I deal with three every now and then. One is at 5%, One is 45 bucks a load, One is who knows. Who is the unreliable one? The who knows one. I can tell you all one thing as a Broker get's involved the freight rates drop by as much as 50%. The thing many of you don't realize is that what a Broker makes off you as opposed to what they really cost you is a big spread.
