"Favours" yes I am a Canadian trucker, can be taken two ways. One is when dispatchers asked drivers to pull illegal loads to cover their butts.. Dispatchers dispatch loads drivers are required run to earn their paychecks. Some dispatchers and companies expect drivers to break rules, if the driver declines the dispatcher then punishes driver by dispatching crappy loads. Drivers who pull illegal loads( over weight , out of hours or lack of hours) get rewarded by some dispatchers and get home more frequently or run easier lanes. Asking a driver to stay out longer to cover a load he can do legally could be classified as a favour. ie: Driver heading home for the weekend could be asked to help out and cover a load. He agrees and does this dispatcher a favour. It is a two way street drivers need to be home and loads need to be delivered sometimes favours are needed to accommodate both.
