Personally I don't think most dispatchers put any though into whether you are new or capable or scared to go where ever. They get loads from their planners and where ever you are at the time is what load you get. They just want to move freight not test your driving skills or break you into it slowly.

    Lifesaving advise right there.

I once flew out of Philly International for a flight to DFW and the baggage check in agent handed me my boarding pass and asked me to punch out a Cowboy's fan when I landed in Dallas.

Center City Isnt to bad. I rather do that than NYC. I hate the 5 Boroughs. Heres some more advice for you out of towners lol!

Delaware ave and Columbus ave are the same road! The name change is at Spring Garden! This part is very important!! ******DO NOT!!!!**** turn onto Spring Garden unless you want to turn that 13'6 into a 11'6! (pre-plan)

I can understand being nervous on your first run into a city but remember this, nobody is going to hold your hand in this business. You got that while you were in training.
Always look at something like this as a challenge. After a while, you'll maneuver that big rig in a city better than your own 4-wheeler. Good luck.

I gotta block streets on a daily basis to back in some docks. Talk about having your head on a swivel. What really gets me is when you have to cut through an alley because of all the 1 way streets here in Chicago, only to find a local utillity company working down the same alley but you did not see them untill you are allready in, what are you gonna do wait for them milkers to finish or guess what back out of the alley. hopefully you can get the traiker in to the alley on the other side of the street. When I started this local run this kind of stuff would get me all worked up but know I just take my time and try to get it done as fast and safe as possible, still have to GOAL even though I might have a lane or two blocked. But the more I do it the better I can plan a little better. Work smarter not harder.
