I have never worn steel toed boots. Even at the places that "require" them. Just dont go in wearing tennis shoes and they wont even say a word.

Don't count on that. BTW, my tennis shoes are steel toe, got a tag right on them.

Yeah, I've had some too. Mine were even the Vans style. I'm just saying, they may come bother you if they see tennis shoes at some places, even if they're steel toe. I wear my tennis shoes all the time, unless they ask for steel toe, then i just throw my boots on

I just plan on wearing steel toes while loading and securing then I got some sweet slippers to get into to drive. I have been in the army long enough I am very used to wearing boots and it will protect me in the event something happens. Another question I have been trying to wrap my head around is the shower situation. I have been told that to be a productive driver you will only get to shower on average every other day. Again being in the army I have been in situations during deployments and in training environment where I only got to shower every 7-10 days so I can deal with it if need be. My main concern is making money and establishing a good name for myself in the industry. So here is my question. I am a naturally sweaty guy. I sweat just thinking about physical activity. So with flat bedding do you have more opportunity to shower? From what I am told you generally pick up in the AM and drive to your drop off point and wait over night to deliver and then pick up your next load and repeat M-F. So is there more opportunity to shower? Sorry if this is a dumb question or if I am miss informed, but that is why I am on here to get all the advice from the people who have been on the road for a while so I am better prepared when I get out there.

Depending if there is a delivery deadline i can usually find time to shower every day if need be. Sometimes its stop and get fuel park go shower quick then move on and others i actually stay at a truck stop. A lot of times i stay right at the place I'm picking up or delivering so like i said it only takes a short amount of time to go in get my shower and move on but everybody has there own way of doing it. If I'm running short its a little harder cause i want to get delivered as soon as i can so i can grab that next load. But from what i seen in the open deck field there should be time and i say should be time every night if you want to shower that often.

Thanks that is good to know. I guess I will just have to develop my own rhythm, but it is reassuring to know it is possible to shower daily.

Yep Being deployed in 140 degree weather and full kit with no shower for days at a time I have perfected the baby wipe technique.
