I do it the same way. 2 chains. One on each end going through the holes locked to the deck with a single binder in the middle of each chain. 2 binders in total. This prevents forward to back and side to side movement.
Then straps over the top to help the container have more friction on the deck and to help minimize deck flex underneath the container.
Thats the solution I came up with on my own. When I first did it I didnt know if it was the right way or not. Only that it was a common sense approach that I felt would be more than secure.
Hurstfargonaz, Chewy352 and Razororange Thank this. -
And offcourse you put corner protection under each strap?
-
Hurst let me ask you this:
If you were hauling a grader would you use the 2 chain /4 strap way or the 4 chains? -
What? 2 totally different scenarios.
-
Same principle.
Same laws off physics.
Both are a single long piece off load. -
Big weight difference between a grader and an empty container.
Razororange and johndeere4020 Thank this. -
You wanna bet?SAR and Razororange Thank this.

We're talking about an empty container here, I'll guarantee with his (or my) method you could turn that trailer upside down and that container would stay put. Would a grader? Of course not that's why you do it different.SAR, Razororange, Chewy352 and 1 other person Thank this.

You lose.
Downforce is relation to the angle off the chain.
Your chains have nearly no downforce because they are too flat.
Simple math.
But it is ok ,you do it your way.
I know a better way.
Btw do you put protection under you straps?Last edited: Jan 20, 2017
