Good of lord driver! When did you start driving that it was $10 for all tests? I just seen to renew my license with tanker, it's going to be $90+. I think it's $150 to renew a hazmat license here in PA? Anybody correct me if I'm wrong.texasbbqbest Thanks this. -
Last time I checked hazmat was just under $100.00 tanker was included in the standard cdl fee

Got my cdl in 04, I started school about a month after I graduated high school. I forget what haz mat is in Wisconsin now but it's significantly less than $150. State law has the finger printing capped so they can only charge us so much.

I have tanker double triple air ( and motorcyle ) its included in the cdl fee hazmat and twic are separate

I got the HazMat, double/triples, and tanker endorsements, even though I only might need the HM at the time. I did it to be able to pick up loads, and it worked. Having run some HM trips, they weren't worth the pitiful pay offered by the companies I worked with. Some may pay more if you run HM all the time, but I don't do it any more. I haven't switched to LTL/multiple pups or tanker yet, but I'm always open to a good gig. The endorsements don't cost much, they're way too easy to get (HM is easy, read up for a few minutes with the school material, no prob). For me they were just for a broader base of opportunity, moreso than for a specific application I was chasing.

I just got my Class A learners permit in Florida. I also only paid $10 to take the test. They said when I take the driving test and pass then I will pay $89 for the license. I have been told I can not take the hazmat until I pass the driving test.

The written tests for Hazmat and Tanker are trivial. Seriously, two hours looking at the state manual and doing some tests online for free, you'll pass NP. That's all that's required for the endorsements, besides the fingerprints/BG check for hazmat.
DRIVING hazmat and tanker are NOT trivial, but no one is going to put you behind the wheel with either one just because you have a class A with the endorsements. I know at least in WA there is a lot of required company training for hazmat, and driving a tanker is trickier than other trucks. *I* wouldn't put you on one without some TLC before I set you loose.
