Are some automatic? If so do you know which East Coast companies use them?
    How about cruise control?

    Thanks!

For the past few years Autos are wide spread. Any big fleet will have them, some smaller fleets love them. Only way your not going to have cruise is if the company disabled it for whatever sadistic reason. Don't know much about east coast company's, but I do know the majority of

Midwest Logistics tractors are auto. They are based out of Salina Ohio I think.

Good to know - I love my cruise control in my car - it definitely reduces driving stress and fatigue! Automatic sure would be nice too, of course the CDL school I'll be going to uses manual and that's fine too.

CDL schools 90% of the time use manuals in training. That being said once you've learned how to properly shift a manual the only thing that is going to make you better is time behind the wheel, and someone to show you a few tricks. Some companies want you to use the clutch, some want you to float, when they aren't looking, do whatever your comfortable with.

You will likely be in a manual for training too, but once you are a full Solo driver you could easily get a Auto. The latest generation of autos have worked out most of the bugs. Most of the complaints are about the older versions.

I'm always going to love a 13speed, but the new Eaton Ultrashift+ I have zero problems with.

Someone else might be able to chime in with some east coast companies that use them.

Companies that operate in the east coast, or just that hire from the east coast?

I'm looking for companies that are primarily mid - atlantic, or have solid business in that region. I'm hoping to find a company where I can stay long term after training and be home weekly at the least - regional routes or similar I assume.

Look into averitt. 100% auto, eastern states, no NYC or New England, Home every weekend, all solo, they train if you graduated an approved school (they have a list, most schools) within 6 months. I think PA is the highest they go NE and you leave you truck at a SVC each time you go home so you have the make sure they have a center within 150 miles from you. after training .37 cents a mile .40 at 6 months.
