Oh wait, you meant the trucks weight.... Right, I get it now...
-
No, height, tanks need a flat top or midroof, a lot of tank places aren’t set up for 13.6ZVar Thanks this.
-
Most chemical plants and refineries have low racks and pipe racks.
One thing a tanker driver learns real fast is how to maneuver a truck in tight low places. Things can get real ugly real fast!Justrucking2 and ZVar Thank this. -
Get the dopey Mx 13 and you’ll “save a lot”.....
because you’ll always be in the shop......
Justrucking2 Thanks this. -
The KW studio on the W9/T8 is only 12’ high without the fairing and stacks cut just above roof line.... I never had any trouble pulling a tank with mine......
Of course now I’ve got a day cab...

A mid roof is fine for tanker. My truck has a 73" sleeper and I don't want anything smaller. And I only used it one or two days a week.
-
My Pete 388 with the 78" sleeper is 11'6 and on a 389 it would be at least 3" shorter as the cab/sleeper sit closer to the frame on the long hood trucks.
-
Just get the little 24" coffin sleeper Prime has on their trucks with the lawn mower engine.
Actually I think the KW coffin is 18". -
Condo & tanker is bad for weight, for clearance, and it’s hell in the wind.
Best tanker tractor I had was the KW T660. Flat roof. I’m 6’2” 200# and carried (weighed) 500# of gear & supplies. Plenty of room. Great ergonomics. 48-States and every kind of weather. With max fuel and all of above, 19k on the money.
3.92, 10-speed and M11 Cummins. Slow when loaded, but a blast to zing the rpms empty.. Cruise 70 and pass at 75.
Wind was not a problem.
Be sure to get fifth wheel to 52” or higher with approved risers. And with the smoothbores I’ve pulled, better upgrade the shock absorbers.
